Why Mulch?

Over the years our family has collected hundreds of truck and trailer loads of woodchip mulch in Utah, Kerrville, Bandera, and Boerne for our own properties as well as that of our friends’ and neighbors’ landscaping, gardening, and farming needs.

We are passionate about wood chip mulch!  Our home page is full of articles to illuminate the power of mulch.  In short, below is a list of the top reasons our family has incorporated mulch to:

  • fix rain puddles,
  • fertilize trees,
  • pave garden walkways,
  • clean farm animal housing,
  • compost manure,
  • protect corn, bean, and sunflower seedlings,
  • replenish soil nutrients,
  • protection roots around plants,
  • retain moisture for less watering,
  • block weeds,
  • reduce erosion,
  • keep rain water on the grounds,
  • encourage a natural habitat of pest eating predators such as lizards and frogs,
  • reduce dust,
  • build rich soil naturally over time,
  • insulate the ground from summer heat and winter cold,
  • and more!

The woodchips are obtained from organizations that collect a variety of native trees, bushes, branches, and limbs.  These often have leaves and pine needles.  The combination of green and brown components make for luxurious, natural landscapes, rich compost, and natural organic matter for your trees and plants.
