Knee high by the 4th of July?

  Planting in great quantities is a passion of mine.  That's why, when a neighbor gave me a ton of field corn with no explanation as to the corn's genetics, I decided to test its germination before bothering to dry it and pluck out the corn seeds.   So, in my own lazy way, I tossed an entire corn cob into a tire that contained three-year old wood chip compost and I forgot about it.  A few weeks later, I started to notice seedlings but I wasn't impressed.  Then I went away for a month and when I returned on July 7, 2023, I saw how the corn had grown MASSIVELY.  My husband said the tassels just started to show on his birthday, July 5, 2023.  I do believe I might have put some fish emulsion into the tire before I left, because I recall fertilizing pretty much my entire property.  But I truly don't recall doing anything special to these plants. Now I await to see if any corn actually grows.  If it does, I'll be sure to plant the seeds next y...
